I’ll confess: this blog began as a course requirement.

After completing my B.A. at the University of British Columbia (in History and English Literature), I worked for a few years (neither in History nor English Literature), and realized that accounting and administrative work were decidedly not my passions in life.

So, I moved out east – I’m from the west coast – and plunged back into school full-time.  I started the Public History Master’s Program at the University of Western Ontario in the fall of 2008. All students were encouraged and required to keep a blog to reflect on the process of becoming a public history practitioner – a historian engaged not only with the past, but with new ways of thinking about, and presenting, it to as wide an audience as possible.

I’ve decided to resuscitate this blog.  It began as a graduate student’s reflections.  I hope it’ll evolve into a public historian’s dialogue with the virtual community around her.

Thanks for visiting.
